Nature Genetics And The International Society Of Nephrology At Danvers (MA) On World Kidney Day

Human genetic disorders have provided the main point of entry in our understanding of the kidney's development and physiological function, and disease processes resutling from gene disruption now reveal important insights into kidney function, both in human and experimental models. This current intellectual terrain support the intersecting interests of nephrologists and geneticists and offers exciting prospects for both research fields. To provide a suitable forum for exchange of ideas between the two, ISN and Nature Genetics have partnered up to lead this timely Forefronts meeting, co-chaired by Qais Al-Awqati (Editor, Kidney International) and Myles Ayton (Editor, Nature Genetics).

Convening and intermingling research geneticists, nephrologists and clinicians, and welcoming experts from related specialties, this Forefronts Symposium will strive to synthesize an integrated view of the norma development and function of the kidney from the genetic standpoint.

For two and a half days of shared expertise and exchange participants can look forward to timely insights and exciting findings to be delivered by a panel of first-class speakers on and around the following core themes: Morphogenesis, Ion Transport, Amino Acid Transport, Renin-Angiotensin System, Cilia/Polycystic Kidney Disease, Nephronophthisis, Bardet-Biedel Syndrome, Fibrosis/EMT, and Familial Focal Glomerulosclerosis.
